Sam Khan - Screen Combat

Sam Kahn is a Director, Fight Director, and Choreographer, as well as a Certified Teacher with the British Academy of Stage and Screen Combat (BASSC).

With extensive experience in designing and directing fights across a wide range of styles—from historical battles to fantasy combat—Sam brings a unique creative approach to staged violence. Since earning his BASSC qualification, he has continued to train students in the art of stage combat, running courses that provide an industry-recognised qualification.

Sam’s current projects include directing a 19th-century prizefighting short, designing fight sequences for a film performance test, collaborating with the group Impact (a fight unit for film, theatre, and television), and working on his sixth feature film.

Dedicated to creating safe, realistic, and impactful fight scenes, Sam works closely with actors and directors to maximise the effectiveness of each performance. He also collaborates with departments such as lighting, sound, costume, and make-up to ensure that action sequences are seamlessly integrated into the overall production.

Sam has worked with numerous educational organisations and continues to work closely with the International School of Screen Acting, where he actively develops the syllabus for stage and screen combat and has recently become a partner. His classes cater to both serious drama students and groups seeking engaging, hands-on workshops.
